International Activities for Teaching Degree Students during Summer Semester 2021
The project “FAU Teacher Education International” has put together a program of international activities for teaching degree students for the summer semester 2021 at FAU. Students can expand their intercultural competencies while studying online in a teaching degree program as well as network and benefit from an international exchange with their international fellow students.
Due to the pandemic, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg has started its third online semester. However, despite the continuous online study and social distancing, teaching degree students do not have to miss out on international experiences. In the summer semester of 2021, students are offered guest lectures by international lecturers, open seminar sessions in courses with an international focus, virtual short-term mobilities to foreign countries, lectures (offered in English) on topics of teacher education together with international fellow students, and last but not least, information events and preparatory seminars for future stays abroad. The program is continuously updated by the project “FAU Teacher Education International”.
Despite the pandemic, international teaching degree students also have the opportunity to participate in FAU’s international activities and thus get to know FAU, teacher education at FAU and their German fellow students. In particular, the online event “Welcome to FAU in Erlangen and Nuremberg” provides an insight into the university locations, teacher education and student life at FAU. The event is also supported by the coordinator of FAU’s Buddy Program (Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology). Buddies welcome international students to FAU and support them upon arrival with information and tips.
