Project Description
“FAU Teacher Education International” is covered by funds from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provided by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in Germany (BMBF). With regard to current educational policy and recommendations on internationalisation in higher education and to research results and best-practices in the field of internationalisation of teacher education and taking Bavarian teaching examination regulations into consideration, the project “FAU Teacher Education International” was designed to establish the internationalisation of teacher education at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) with a sustainable concept. All students of teacher education at FAU should be offered the opportunity to gain international experience.
The concept of internationalisation of teacher education applied by “FAU Teacher Education International” addresses students of teacher education, teachers in training for continuous professional development at FAU, lecturers as well as information and counseling centers for international co-operations in teacher education at FAU. Internationalisation in teacher education is established through mobility for students and lecturers, internationalisation at home and in virtual classrooms (web-based courses and virtual mobility) and implemented in all cirruclar elements of teacher education (subject-related studies, subject-related didactics and educational sciences). In addition, cooperation between the first and third phase of teacher education is encouraged (e.g. the co-operation with the network “Internationalisation of Education in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region”).
„FAU Teacher Education International“ addresses the variety of study programmes and subjects, the linguistic and cultural diversity as well as the wide range of international cooperation in teacher education. The evaluation of the project and further project-related research acitivities contribute to the scientific discourse and research in teacher education.
