International Web-Based Courses / Virtual Mobility
The development of web-based courses with a thematic focus on “Internationalization and Teacher Education” is an essential component of the project measures. Therefore, the project initiates co-operations with several partner institutions to develop joint web-based courses on all components of Teacher Education such as the subjects-related studies, subject-related didactics and Educational Sciences. Newly developed web-based seminars are integrated into the course catalog.
The web-based courses provide the opportunity for students from different countries to study together virtually. They can exchange different perspectives on common topics and engage in discussions. The courses should promote critical thinking and the reflection on different international perspectives.
Since the beginning of the project, FAU-internal calls for proposals for the funding of web-based courses have been published on a regular basis, to which teachers in FAU’s teacher training programmes could apply with concepts for corresponding seminars. Since then, the concepts for four web-based courses have been approved for the summer semester 2021 and the winter semester 2021/22:
- “(Open) Educational Ressources: Rationale, Development, Evaluation“ by Professor Dr. Svenja Bedenlier in co-operation with University Valladolid, Spain;
- “International web-based cooperation between students in Europe based on example ‚Teaching and Learning in Primary Schools‘“ by Dr. Renner in co-operation with the University of Latvia, Latvia;
- A French-German web-based seminar in regional and cultural studies for Teacher Education by Dr. Corina Petersilka, Julien Nairaince and Professor Dr. Annette Keilhauer in co-operation with University Rennes 2, France;
- “Governance of Biodiversity Conservation: Ecological Knowledge and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity in UNESCO’s Biosphere Reserves” (Prof. Dr. Perdita Pohle, Institute of Geography in cooperation with the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO) Quito, Ecuador)
Future calls for proposals for the development of web-based seminars will be made internally at FAU. At least eight more web-based seminars will be developed in the following semesters as part of the project. Interested parties are welcome to contact the Project Assistant for further information.
