Internationalisation of the Curriculum
“FAU Teacher Education International” promotes the internationalisation of the curriculum as an essential part of the internationalisation of teacher education at FAU. As a teacher educator, you have the opportunity to contribute to the internationalisation of the curriculum.
Courses with an International Dimension
In 2020, a study was conducted regarding limits and potentials of internationalisation in the modules of teaching degree programs at FAU. In this study, curricular coordinators rated all modules in the teaching degree programs at FAU regarding their international orientation. Internationally oriented modules are modules that either have a special consideration of international dimensions in the course content or are attended by international students. Modules that are taught by international guest lecturers and/or in a foreign language (e.g. English) or bilingually are also internationally oriented. The results of this study show the breadth of available courses with an international dimension and show where further development is required.
For the further development of courses regarding an international dimension, “ FAU Teacher Education International” supports lecturers at FAU by developing and providing workshops and advanced training courses. Current workshops and advanced training courses can be found on this webpage or on the ProfiLehrePlus Portal of the Advanced Training Center for Higher Education Teaching (FBZHL).
Moreover, the project can partially offer possible financial support to cover the costs of purchasing literature on the topic of internationalisation of teacher training. The project assistant will be happy to check acquisition proposals for you. Please sent your proposal via email to Mr. Peter Bartels.
Web-based courses (virtual mobility)
Another possibility to contribute to the internationalisation of the curriculum is the joint development of web-based courses together with teacher educators from partner universities abroad. Web-based courses offer students and lecturers in teaching degree programs the possibility to work together in virtual classrooms and thereby enhance their intercultural competences.
Web-based courses are key elements of the internationalization of teacher education and is hence supported by the project. “FAU Teacher Education International” develops workshops and advanced training courses. Moreover, there is the possibility of financial support for the development and implementation of web-based courses. This includes funding for initiation trips, student assistants and literature. More information about the development of web-based courses and current call for tenders for financial support can be found on this page.
